Plain Language First — What This Policy Says in Three Sentences

RISE collects the personal and financial information you provide or connect, and uses it only to give you the financial wellness tools in the app — nothing else.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to target you. Your financial information is yours.

If you ever have a question about your data or want it deleted, email us at support@risefinancialwellness.co and we'll respond within 48 hours.

RISE's data commitment, stated plainly:

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information or financial data — to anyone, for any reason, ever.

We will never use your data to target you with advertising.

We will never share your financial details with a sponsoring organization, employer, or partner — even if they are paying for your access.

We will always tell you what we collect, what we do with it, and who we share it with.

If the law ever required us to compromise these commitments, we would notify you and fight it before we complied.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. That's all we require to get started.

Financial Data via Plaid

If you choose to link a bank account, you do so through Plaid Technologies, Inc. Plaid gives RISE read-only access to:

We never receive, see, or store your bank login credentials. Plaid handles that authentication entirely. RISE only receives the financial data Plaid passes to us, and only uses it to power your features inside the app.

Why we need this

The Money Leak Scanner, Buffer Builder, and Paycheck Flow only work if RISE can see your actual transaction data. Without it, we're guessing. With it, we can show you what's actually happening with your money — specifically, accurately, and in service of you.

Profile Information You Provide

To personalize your experience and match you with benefits you qualify for, you may provide:

Documents You Upload

If you use the Document Vault, you may upload personal documents such as benefit paperwork, identification, or financial statements. These are stored securely with restricted access and encryption. They are never used for any purpose other than making them available to you when you need them. You can delete any uploaded document at any time from within the app.

Usage and Technical Data

We collect information about how you use the app — screens viewed, features used, buttons tapped — to understand what's working and what isn't. Some of this data, such as crash reports, may include technical identifiers associated with your device or session. This data helps us fix bugs and improve the experience. It is never linked to your financial data for any analytical purpose.

Subscription Data

If you subscribe to RISE Plus, RevenueCat processes your payment through Apple or Google. We receive your subscription status (active, trial, cancelled) so RISE knows what features to unlock for you. We never receive or store your payment card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for one purpose: to give you RISE. Specifically:

AI-Powered Features

Several RISE features use artificial intelligence powered by the Claude API (Anthropic). These include the Benefits Finder, Benefits Application Guide, and financial guidance content. When you use these features, the minimum necessary data — such as your household size, income range, state, and current benefits — is sent to the AI to generate your personalized response.

What this means for you

An AI reads information about your household to give you a personalized answer. Your data is not stored by Anthropic, not used to train AI models, and not retained beyond the processing of your request. We only send what each feature actually needs — never your full financial picture.

We do not use your personal or financial information to make automated decisions that have significant legal or financial effects on you without your knowledge or the ability to seek human review.

3. How We Share Your Information

RISE does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or financial data to any third party — for marketing, advertising, data brokering, or any other purpose. Ever.

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

Service Providers

We use the following third-party services to operate RISE. Each is contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it to provide their specific service to RISE — nothing else.

Supabase
supabase.com/privacy
Database and user authentication. Your data lives here, protected by row-level security — only you can access your own data.
Plaid Technologies
plaid.com/legal
Bank account linking (read-only). Plaid connects your bank to RISE. Your bank login credentials stay with Plaid and are never shared with RISE.
RevenueCat
revenuecat.com/privacy
Subscription management. Handles RISE Plus billing through Apple or Google. We never receive your payment card details.
Anthropic (Claude API)
anthropic.com/privacy
AI-powered features. Processes the minimum data needed to generate your personalized guidance. Does not store or train on your data.
Sentry
sentry.io/privacy
Crash reporting and error monitoring. Receives device information and error data to help us identify and fix technical issues quickly.

Sponsored Access

If your access to RISE is funded by an organization — such as a church, employer, or nonprofit — we may confirm to that organization that your account is active, so they can verify their investment is being used. That is the only information we share. We never share your financial data, transaction history, app activity, or any personal information with any sponsoring organization. Your financial life is yours alone — it doesn't belong to whoever paid for your app.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority. We will notify you before complying with any such demand to the extent permitted by law, and we will challenge any request we believe to be overbroad or unjustified.

Business Transfers

If RISE is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, we will notify you before your information becomes subject to different terms. In any such transaction, we will require that the acquiring party commit to the same no-sell, no-advertising data practices in this policy as a condition of any user data transfer. You will retain the right to delete your account and all associated data before or after any transition.

4. How We Protect Your Data

No system is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs that affects your rights, we will notify you promptly — within 72 hours of discovery where required by law, and as soon as reasonably possible in all cases. We will tell you what happened, what data was affected, and what steps we are taking.

5. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service to you.

When you delete your account: All personal information, financial data, transaction records, uploaded documents, and associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days. We will send you a confirmation when deletion is complete.

Transaction data: Raw transaction records older than 90 days may be summarized and the individual records removed from active storage. This is a technical optimization — your Scanner and Paycheck Flow history is preserved in aggregated form for your benefit.

Document Vault: Documents inactive for 12 months will be flagged for archival. You will receive a notification 30 days before any document is archived and have the opportunity to keep it or delete it.

Legal hold: In limited circumstances, we may be required by law to retain certain data beyond your account deletion. If this applies to you, we will tell you.

6. Your Rights and Choices

These are your rights. They are real, they are exercisable, and we will honor every one of them.

Access

Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you. We'll provide it within 30 days.

Correction

Update inaccurate information at any time through account settings, or ask us to correct it.

Deletion

Delete your account and all associated data at any time — from within the app or by contacting us. Processed within 30 days with confirmation sent to you.

Portability

Request an export of your data in a readable format. Email us and we'll prepare it within 30 days.

Bank Disconnection

Disconnect linked bank accounts at any time from within app Settings. Disconnecting stops all future data collection from those accounts immediately.

Notification Control

Opt out of any non-essential notifications at any time in app Settings. Opting out never affects your ability to use RISE.

To exercise any right, email support@risefinancialwellness.co. We will respond within 48 hours and complete all requests within 30 days.

7. California Residents — CCPA Rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you additional rights:

RISE does not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@risefinancialwellness.co.

8. Children and Families

RISE is designed for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from anyone under 18.

Kids Profile feature: If you use the Kids Profile, you may provide your children's ages to help RISE identify government benefits you qualify for on their behalf — such as CHIP, WIC, or childcare subsidies. This information is used only for that specific purpose. It is never shared, sold, or used for any other reason. You can remove your children's profiles at any time from within app Settings.

If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information directly from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.

9. Third-Party Links

RISE links to third-party websites and services, including government benefits portals, application guides, and recommended financial products. When you leave RISE, that site's own privacy policy applies — not ours. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site before submitting personal information.

When RISE recommends a third-party product or service and we have an affiliate relationship with that provider, we will disclose this clearly at the point of recommendation. An affiliate relationship never influences whether we recommend something — only whether it is genuinely good for you.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. When we make material changes — changes that affect how we collect, use, or share your data — we will:

Minor changes (such as clarifying language, correcting errors, or updating contact information) may be made without advance notice but will always be reflected in the updated effective date at the top of this document.

Continued use of RISE after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. If you do not agree with a material change, you may delete your account before it takes effect and all your data will be removed.

11. Contact Us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, want to exercise a data right, or just want to understand what RISE does with your information — ask us. We read every message.
